If you can't say anything nice

I know I'm not the only one who sees this, but whenever there is an article about a couple who adopts a child or has fertility treatments the responses are extremely cruel from others. I have tried to wrap my head around this as it seems everyone has an opinion, but you really don't hear much about infertility on a daily basis as a topic. It doesn't make the cheeriest of conversations to be honest.
So, why does it hit a nerve with people who have never lived it? Not only does it hit a nerve it brings out the mean spirits of people. Others tell people they shouldn't have children. "You can't afford adoption or treatments so why in the world would you want a child?" People say to "just adopt one of our millions of orphans in America" as if the process were so simple.
Generally, it seems these comments are made from people who can have children naturally.
I take complete offense to this. I think as a society if it doesn't affect us we don't care.
Many people don't see it as the painful topic that it is. They don't see fertility treatments as a way to start a family. They see them as selfish. I'm still trying to figure out how trying to create my own family makes me any more selfish then someone who gets pregnant easily.
Maybe we should take more concern with teenagers TRYING to get pregnant because its so glamorized than a stable, married couple trying to have a family. There should be NO reason I should have to defend myself with Infertility. That did not come to me as a choice. What did come to me as a choice was how I resolve it.
We've been through this going on TEN YEARS, so at this point I will tell people what I think or how I feel right after they say, "Well, my husband can LOOK at me and I get pregnant." UGH!!

Rich People Problems

I'm all for people working hard and making a lot of money to support their families. I also can empathize with people not wanting to part with their money by supporting others. I get that. I really do. My husband and I don't make a lot of money. We make enough to live on and to save a little, but not even close to six figures or over. There is a  blog where this woman is complining about having to go back to work to keep her nanny employed I have no sympathy. When you complain about childcare costing over 4,000 a month my sympathy bank goes in to the negative. While families can relate to paying for childcare I'd like to think most people aren't so stuck up that they have to send their nine month old to the ritziest daycare in town. HONESTLY... the kid POOPS in his pants as a hobby.

I think its sad when people lose sight of real problems. There are people who can't afford to eat or buy clothes and you are complaining about paying your nanny? Where are your priorities lady? UGH. This is not a blog I read and think, "Oh I could SO be friends with this girl." Nope, I think, "Wow what a class A BIATCH!!" I enjoy reading other blogs because most of us live on planet Earth.

I love you Chick Fil A

I admit I have a love affair with Chick Fil A. I admire them as a company. They treat their employees well, its a clean place and super family friendly, the wait is always quick and the food rocks.

By now we all know the stance of the owner of Chick Fil A. He does not agree with Gay marriage. OH NO!!! Not agreeing with pop culture???How dare a 91 year old man do that???

I have my own opinion on this, but I feel this has gotten ridiculous. Chick-Fil-A makes chicken.  That is how they put bread on their tables. They also do amazing things for communites and schools. They have some great values that I feel as a country we have let go to the wayside. It is refreshing to walk in to a store and see a Christian mission statement standing strong. GOOD for them.  Jesus even said this would happen. Jesus himself was put through the ringer, but he stood by his belief and did not change it.
Chick-Fil-A will not change theirs due to popular culture.

Mark 8:38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels.

So, to me this isn't about Gay marriage if I agree with it or not. Its about an amazing business who has made one statement. ONE. It is their opinion. I'm certain I have done business with companies that have beliefs that I don't agree with, but I'm not going to stop my business with them unless it harms me or my family. Below  is a link to a blog that states very clearly how I feel.

"God has a plan"

"God has a plan for you."  I know I am Christian, but I detest those words coming from someone else.
When you tell someone of a loss or a struggle, "God has a plan" are not words that really comfort me at that time. Those are words I have to come up with on my own in my own time through my own grief.

Those words are self serving and make the person who is saying them feel better. Maybe that is just me. Maybe I'm the one who does not get it. I wish, though, when someone would say that they would tell me what Gods plan is.

What  I'm leading up to is an update on the Save Veronica case. Long story short her biological father was given custody by the Supreme Court. She was taken away from her adoptive family who had cared for her from birth til 2 and half years over 1% Indian blood. I can't imagine the pain of the family. Their loss and hers is huge. I don't know what the families plan is for the future, but one thing that comes to my mind is the monetary cost of all of this. They do have a Face.book page if you would like to support them. I want to know what "God's plan" was in all of this.

Right now.. My prayers go out to them which I think is far better than saying "God has a plan."

Bus Monitor

I'm sure most of you have seen the video of the 68 year old bus monitor who was bullied by 7th Graders. I'm using the word bullied lightly here because really its terrorizing. If you haven't seen it, Here it is.Be forewarned its not for the light hearted. I watched about 5 minutes of it and couldn't take it anymore. The woman has since earned over half a million through an online charity that was meant to send her on vacation. She can pretty much retire. I assume this is why she was working a job that paid 15,000 at the age of 68 because she couldn't afford to retire. Now she can.

Of course I have my view on this. Who doesn't? In the one day since it has shown we are  an internet nation in an uproar. I say bring it on!!! What upsets me the most is it takes something as horrible and as cruel as this being VIDEO TAPED to get these kids in trouble. This probably isn't the first time this has occured. My thoughts now turn from rage to, "How do these heathens end up like this??"  I see this in my classrooms sometimes. Children challenge authority. This, is natural. What is NOT natural is them overpowering authority.

Odviously, this starts at home. When I call a parent and their child is misbehaving and did something wrong and they call back and try to say in a round about way I don't like their child it frustrates me to no end. Your child screwed up. He needs to be punished. YOU do your job and punish him there and I can do my job and punish him here.

I was generally a good kid in school. I wasn't a bully at all. To say that I was prefect would be far from the truth, but I was never cruel. Its not how my mom raised me. I know teachers and children are being bullied like this in schools and these kids can't get away from it anymore by going home because its online too. The laws haven't kept up with technology. It saddens me we have to even make seperate laws about bullying. Its just a breakdown in society.

In my classroom I have to teach students how to work in groups and how to treat each other fairly. Its a methodical approach that I have to reteach often. Children don't just know how to get along it is taught. Its taught from Day one of their lives on how they are treated and how they interact with family members.

In the end I hope these children end up in reform school for a year. They need a boot in their butt.
